2013 World Dance Council Annual General Meeting, Competitive Dance Committee Meeting, World Dance Teachers Committee Meeting.
The Annual General Meeting of the World Dance Council on Thursday 30th May in the Spanish Hall of the Winter Gardens concluded a series of extremely positive and harmonious meetings for 2013.
The AGM was a hugely successful closing meeting and in a demonstration of the unity of the WDC Family every vote was unanimously passed. The delegates returned home with optimism and confidence for the future.
The President Mr Donnie Burns, MBE, in his inspirational address spoke of the outstanding and invaluable work undertaken by the Presidium and stressed that never had he known a more united and hard working team. The future was indeed positive with their determination and drive. The President stressed that there was no such thing as winning as the World Dance Council were not engaged in a battle with any organisation, the WDC was in pursuit of excellence to be the best of the best.

The spectacular success of the WDC and AL Education Department with the inauguration of a Masters Degree and now boasted close to 13,000 members in the Facebook group.
The continued and constant growth of the Amateur League with new countries being attracted to the freedom and benefits of the league.
The success of and the popularity amongst competitors for the Open World Championship format for Professionals.
The President paid a special tribute to the late Borge Jensen of Denmark who sadly passed away in March this year. Described as "a little man from a little country" by the President but one who made a huge impact on dance and who has left so many people with so many wonderful memories. The delegates were asked to stand and remember Borge not in silence but with sustained applause as a special tribute to this remarkable man.

Also Mr. Stanislav Popov was made Honorary Vice-President of the Council in recognition of his services to the WDC.
A special moment comes with the announcement of the Presidents Award. Recipients of the honour were our great 2012 World Champions to whom we owe so much for their contribution to dance

The World Dance Council are grateful to the British Dance Council who annually host luncheon for all AGM Delegates.
All delegates left the meeting with high spirits, determination and anticipation that the future will be even brighter with continued growth and success for the World Dance Council.
Earlier The Competitive Dance Committee Meeting on Monday 27th May was well attended and all debate was in a constructive manner. The proposals from the Competitive Dance Executive Board and the Board Of Directors, which had the support of the Competitors commission were all passed unanimously or with large majorities in favour. The reports from the Presidium, Coaches Commission, the Competitors Commission, the WDC Amateur League and BDFI International were warmly received. All reported positively and of continued progress.
It was confirmed that the 2015 World Professional Championship would be held in Canada with Russia awarded the 2016 World Professional Latin Championships and Great Britain the World Ballroom Championship. We can be assured of spectacular events in each case.
The invaluable contribution to dance by the Teachers Committee was recorded at their Meeting on Wednesday 29th May. The grassroots of dance are vitally important for the future.
Verband der Tanzlehrer Österreichs, VOT, Austria made application to host in Vienna the WDC World Dance Teachers Congress and one of the major highlights will be the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Viennese Waltz with over 100,000 dancers taking part and performing the dance around the 4km route of the famous Ringstrasse. What a magnificent way in which to take our beautiful dance world to the public at large and it will undoubtedly draw world wide media attention .
